The EPA recommends that you have radon testing. Every home should be tested! Protect your family and investment by knowing the levels of your home. Elevated levels have been found in homes in every county in Ohio. Higher levels increase your risk of lung cancer. The only way to know the level is to test your home. Testing should be conducted by a licensed technician prior to purchase. The Ohio Department of Health estimates that one-half of Ohio homes have levels above the Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended action level of 4 picoCuries/liter (4 pCi/l). Test results from nearby homes cannot be relied upon to predict the levels in your home.
